Mark MacFarlane

Mark was appointed Chief Executive, Todd Energy New Zealand in early 2021. In addition to this role, he also holds the role of Vice President, New Zealand Upstream Energy with the Todd Corporation (Todd Energy’s parent company). 

Mark completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) at the University of Melbourne in 1987 and joined ExxonMobil in Victoria. Over the next 10 years Mark held a number of developmental roles in reservoir operations and sub-surface engineering in both Australia and Malaysia. 

In 1997, Mark joined Santos and over the next 14 years, he held a range of management and executive roles before becoming CEO of the Santos LNG project based in Queensland in 2010. 

In 2013, Mark joined Tullow Oil, London as Director, Development and Operations and was subsequently appointed Executive Vice President, Africa. Prior to joining Todd Energy, Mark held the role of Chief Operating Officer and was responsible for Tullow Oil’s HSE, exploration, operated and non-operated businesses, and commercial activities. 

Mark, his wife and their youngest son relocated from London to New Plymouth in 2021. His three daughters currently remain in the UK where they are completing either their final school year or university education.
